BBC's Sherlock

Number One boy crush. Benedict Cumberbatch plays a modern day Sherlock Holmes in BBC's 'Sherlock'. I love the show and I knew that I would have to draw him sometime. So here he is!

Here Comes the Bride – My Classic Monster's piece for Halloween Town

As I mentioned last week, I had a piece in Halloween Town's 'Classic Monsters' Tribute Art Show in Burbank, CA. I originally wanted to do two pieces that were both 'Bride' based. This one & another with Dracula's Brides. Well, time slipped away an I was only able to complete one piece. The Dracula's Brides piece is something I want to do in the future. I have it sort of worked out in my head, but I need to figure it out on paper.

Anyway, this was my contribution to the show. I wish that I could have attended, it looked like loads of fun. Halloween Town posted some of the photos from the show on their Facebook page if you are interested in checking out the scene. Lots of great art & artists.

Deer Girl Holiday Card Art

I just had some holiday cards printed up to sell at ZaPow! Gallery in Asheville, NC. I had two designs, the Krampus card that I posted last week, and this Deer Girl piece.

This was something I started working on last year, but it wasn't looking right. But I was in love with her face, so I went back and reworked the body. I think she turned out nicely and makes a sweet companion card to the wicked Krampus.

Classic Monsters, Creepmas & Krampus Cheer!

What happened to November?! Last thing I remember it was Halloween, then the day after, then whoosh! Now it's December. Last month I was super busy at my job, then I got sick the week of Thanksgiving & spent most of my holiday vacation in bed. I was working on a Thanksgiving header that was really cute, but didn't finish it in time. I was also going to take part in a 'Cult Movie' show at ZaPow! but ran out of time. Time! Time! Where goes the time??

Well, I needed to stop by the blog & do some sprucing up, as well as share some updates so here goes. First of all, I just completed this super cute Krampus art for some holiday cards.

And of course I also used him for my Holiday 2012 banner. I'm hoping I'll be able to get my cards printed next week. I'm also working on a second holiday design, that I hope to have finished by tomorrow night. If you don't know Krampus, you can read all about him here.

Next, I am part of a 'Classic Monsters' group art show at Halloween Town store's Parlour Gallery in Burbank, CA. This is my first show with them and I'm very excited to be included along with some truly amazing artists. Tonight is the opening night and the exhibit runs through Dec. 30, 2012.

I will post the art that I did for this show soon.

And finally, I just wanted to bring to your attention that there is a cool blogging event beginning today. It's the 13 Days of Creepmas!

I'm a CREEP for The 13 Days of CREEPMAS

Badge art by Tom Krohne

What is CREEPMAS? Here's part of the official Creepmas statement from the blog:

CREEPMAS is a good-natured push back at Retail America for trying to force Christmas down our throats as early as July. Something has gone seriously wrong with how holidays are marketed to us in the last 5 years. When you go to a major retail store in mid-October only to find they've gotten rid of all their Halloween merchandise in favor of snowmen & Santas, well, it's time to take action!

The 13 Days of Creepmas is an online Celebration of Spookiness from December 1 - 13. The idea is to bring a macabre twist to Christmas and the holidays. Get creative and post it on your blog - share your twisted yule visions with the world!

This is the second year for this blogging event, and I hope to see it continue for many years to come. I thought about taking part this year, but was afraid I couldn't come up with enough spooky content to fill the 13 days. Maybe I'll give it a try next year. But I'm looking forward to seeing what this year's contributors have in store.
