My Pete Hawley Halloween Table Cloth

Today I wanted to share a Halloween purchase I made a couple of months ago. This past summer, I started a collection of a specific Halloween item, that will probably be something I share in future Countdowns. Which means that I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time on Etsy & Ebay looking for these things. While searching on Etsy, I came across this paper table cloth:

It was love at first sight. These cats were so ding-darn adorable, I just had to buy it. Also I kept thinking that the art looked an awful lot like that of Pete Hawley. And sure enough:

I have been familiar with Hawley's art, but hadn't put a name to the art until about 2 years ago. I always loved these images & ultimately it was what made me begin doing research into the artist.

Some other Hawley Halloween images have surfaced around the internet, including these decorations posted in 2013 from SheWalksSoftly.

You can also read about and see more of Pete Hawley's work at Today's Inspiration. I've chosen to link to the Pete Hawley American Greetings post, but there are more posts about him on the site if you are interested.

But back to the tablecloth. I tried to get the best scan I could. I had to do it in sections & then paste it together. Also the material is a paper, and has dimples (kind of like a paper towel). But it's still a great Halloween image & I wanted to share it with everyone.

  1. That's beautiful! Thanks for going to the trouble of sharing it, and the information behind it, with the interweb :)
