Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead Lady #1

I'm trying to get back into working after having my wisdom teeth removed last week. This is part of that warm up.

After doing the Voodoo Priestess piece for The Blue Zombies, I liked the idea of doing another 'skull face' girl. So I decided to do a fancy Day of the Dead lady. I found some photos of little statues online, and just drew up my interpretation of them. This is #1 of 3. The other 2 ladies will follow soon, maybe by the end of the week.

I have another important project for Little Shoppe of Horrors to get to and I also have a piece from the last Dr. Sketchy's I attended that I would like to finish. So much to do. Check back for more...

Andree has proven to be a difficult subject for me. It's hard to capture her unusual looks. This is one of two 'Brides' pieces I am working on that feature Andree. The other one is probably going to need a complete reworking.

Dr. Sketchy's 4/2009 – The Pin Up Bunnies

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School. When Cabaret meets Art School. I read about this unique drawing class experience in 'Bust Magazine' awhile back and thought it was a fantastic idea. Dr. Sketchy's started in NY, and has now started to branch out all over the world. Recently, I discovered that there was in fact a Dr. Sketchy's here in my own town! I enjoyed myself very much, although I'm very rusty at drawing from life. I just had a chance to work up a final piece from one of my sketches done at that event.
